KATHMANDU, Aug 10 - The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) kept going downhill for the seventh consecutive day with the index dropping 6.37 points to close at 693.64 on Sunday.
The sensitive index also declined by 1.9 points. All the NEPSE sub-indices registered negative growth.
The development bank sector lost the most with a drop of 9.79 points followed by banking, hydropower, insurance and finance which shed 8 points, 3.38 points, 0.56 point and 0.42 point respectively.
The secondary market witnessed a total turnover of Rs. 98.11 million with 173,655 shares being traded. Altogether, shares of 65 companies were traded on NEPSE. Only five commercial banks saw their share prices go up on Sunday.
Among the 21 commercial banks, Laxmi Bank was the highest gainer with its share price increasing by 43 points. Standard Chartered Bank suffered the most on NEPSE losing 140 points.
Business Development Bank was the winner among the development banks with a 20-point rise in its share price. Likewise, Lumbini Finance topped the chart among finance companies.
The top five winners on NEPSE were Lumbini Finance with a 9.92 percent rise in its stock price followed by Laxmi Bank, Shikhar Bittiya Sanstha, Business Development Bank and Kuber Merchant Bittiya Sanstha. - Kantipur Report
