NEPSE down 1.05pt

KATHMANDU, July 22 - The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) went down Tuesday by 1.05 points. The sensitive index also fell by 0.24 point.
The development bank sector, the only one among the sub-indices to post an increase gained 0.21 point. The hydropower sector dipped on Tuesday as well by 20.01 points followed by the finance sector which dropped 3.69 points and the banking sector which lost 0.35 point.

The share market witnessed a total turnover of Rs. 87.432 million with 136,522 shares.

Among the 20 commercial banks on NEPSE, Everest Bank posted the biggest growth with its stock rising by 25 points.

Similarly, among the 12 development banks , Annapurna Bikas Bank witnessed the highest increase of 25 points.

Likewise, Kaski Finance Company was the highest gainer among finance companies.

The top gainer on NEPSE was Annapurna Bikas Bank with a 5.64 percent rise.

Similarly, the top loser on Tuesday was Chilime Hydro Power Company which fell by 4.88 percent.

Nepal Bangladesh Bank topped the chart in terms of turnover with Rs. 18.180 million.

NEPSE starts week with 1.53pt drop

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) started the week with a fall of 1.53 points.
Even though the barometer of the secondary market fell, the sensitive index was up 1.43 points to close at 196.60. The sensitive index is a gauge to evaluate the performance of 78 healthier companies in the secondary market. Likewise, the float index, an indicator of all the ordinary shares on the stock market, rose 0.38 point to 70.46.

The sub-indices which had been witnessing a good growth since the last couple of weeks showed a mixed reaction with three of them going up while two dropped. The highest gainer among the sub-indices was the banking sector which grew by 7.14 points followed by finance with an increase of 3.98 points and the insurance sector which increased by 0.23 point. However, the development bank sector and the hydropower sector fell by 15.48 points and 9.82 points respectively on Sunday.

Only 55 companies registered their presence at the secondary market with 29 gainers and 23 losers. The A-D ratio was maintained at 1.26. All in all, 195,948 shares were traded today via 1,080 transactions. The turnover reached Rs. 104.905 million and market capitalization amounted to Rs. 502.832.4 million. The number of shares traded and the turnover declined by 435,216 units and Rs. 48.799 million in comparison to last Thursday.

Among the 21 commercial banks on NEPSE, Everest Bank posted the biggest growth with its stock rising by 100 points while Everest Bank convertible preference lost the most on the trading floor by shedding 39 points on Sunday.

Similarly, among the 11 development banks whose shares were traded on NEPSE on Sunday, Subeksha Bikas Bank witnessed the highest increase of 16 points while Malika Bikas Bank dropped 830 points. Likewise, Gorkha Finance promoter share was the highest gainer among finance companies with an increase of 164 points in its share price. Kaski Finance lost 34 points.

The top five gainers on NEPSE were Nepal Bangladesh Bank with a 10 percent rise in its stock price followed by Kumari Bank, Prabhu Finance Company, Cosmic Merchant Banking and Finance and Everest Bank.

Similarly, the top five losers on Sunday were Malika Bikas Bank which fell by 67.64 percent followed by Infrastructural Development Bank, DCBL Bank, National Hydropower Company and Everest Bank convertible preference.

Nepal Investment Bank topped the chart in terms of turnover with Rs. 12.141 million.

4,657 Sunrise share applications rejected

A dispute has arisen between applicants for Sunrise Bank shares and NMB Bank, the share issue manager, after the issue manger disqualified 4,657applications for 1,173,599 share units, citing serious flaws in the application process. Upendra Paudel, chief executive officer at NMB Bank, said that the disqualification of the applications was not guided by any ill intension but was forced by the serious nature of mistakes made by the applicants.

NMB Bank Ltd allotted the shares of Sunrise Bank Ltd on Thursday. Sunrise Bank had received a total of 3,44,526 applications — including 295 by staff of the bank — for 10,03,19,959-unit shares. Of the total applications, 4,657 applications were rejected as the applicants had not filled the forms completely. “Applicants, who have not filled in their grandfather’s names, account number — and anything other factor that is mandatory or missed the signature ares — are disqualified,” said the issue manager.According to the IPOs Regulation, an applicant must fill the bank account number as the money would be returned through banks by account payee cheque.

IPO Of Public Development Bank Was Oversubscribed

According to NIDC capital Market, initial public offering of Public development bank has oversubscribed by around 20 times."IPO of Public development has collected 66 crore (660 million) for the first three days and it is expected to collect 50 crore (500 million) along in the closing day" said, Bijay Lal Shrestha, Chief Merchant Banking of NIDC capital market. NIDC is the issue manager of Public Development bank.Public development bank has issued 600000 units of share to public at Rs. 100 from 28 June, 2009 to 1 July, 2009 (14-17 Ashad 2066). It has separated 18000 units of shares to its employees out of the total issue. IPO has been closed today after the banking hours due to oversubscription.The company has earned Rs. 1118000 as a net profit during the fiscal year 2064/65 where as it was Rs. 7221000 for the first nine month of current fiscal year (2065 chaitra end).
